Smiles

I think I started my morning with Liams first social smiles. I can not guarantee it as he hasn't blessed me with more yet. He was on my lap awake looking into my eyes and he gave me one open mouth half smile then again a moment later.... I melted!

He has dimples in his knees and elbows, I love little babies especially my own.

Two things that are interesting about my little Liam. He often hold the soother while it is in his mouth and has done so since he was only days old. He seems to be very coordinated with his hands we will see. He also smiles a lot in his sleep, and I mean a lot. A few days ago the neighbor gave us a live crab, Scott was in heaven. He has wanted to buy crab for while but I won't spend the big bucks. Truthfully I found the whole thing a little gross it was hard to enjoy the final product after seeing the crab alive then boiled in water. Scott got to eat most of it because the kids would eat it either. May be next year we will get him a crab trap for his birthday... or may be fathers day hmmmmmm.

2 girls 1 boy just like I wanted!

Finally a post about my other kids not just Liam. Since last night Keiran has taken to dressing in girl clothes. He loves Makayla's pink nighty which he has been wearing all afternoon. I think he likes the cool breeze on these hot days as he is also not wearing underwear with it. But he still is acting very boyish with quick ninja kicks showing us his male parts. I think Scott finally convinced him to add the underwear to the outfit. He picked a pair of Makayla's that are blue, which he proudly pointed out to me. He has also changed his name to Anika.... hmmm how long will this last?

Funny Day

Well today had some funny perks!

2 weeks ago I got a letter in the mail saying that they received my birth registration for Liam but the doctor or midwife didn't send one in. So he officially didn't exist until I could get them to send in a nob (notice of birth) which actually was a bit of work tracking down who was responsible just in the fact that I had so many care givers. Finally I got the hospital to send another copy. Well today I was excited thinking I was getting his birth certificate instead it was his SIN card. I can't believe my sons only piece of ID is a SIN card. I guess I can send him to work if the recession gets really bad.

My next funny moment is all about my new found obsession for cloth diapers. I am always looking for a deal on craigslist. Daily I search for cloth diapers hoping to find some sweet deals on poop holders... I know I must find a new obsession. Anyways a couple of weeks ago I saw an add for some that I would like to try called rumparooz but they were priced way to high $25 /diaper new they are less than $30! So I emailed and asked if I could give her $20 she said the ad was too new so no. Well 2 days ago I emailed her back and asked if I could may be but just 2 for $20 (now that it had been 2 weeks and the ad was still up) no reply. Well today while searching for diapers I saw she had posted a new add and was selling them for $15!!!! What a whack job she could have sold them to me for $20. So I emailed her then realized she probably wouldn't email me back. Well as some of you may know I don't like to loose so I made a fake email without my name, which gives me away every time, and emailed her with that address as well. Guess who got a response and who didn't; She emailed my fake address but not my real one. Some people are super strange!!!!! WTF I mean really how much could I have offend her to not respond to a buyer....

Liam's Due Date

Liam is now ready to join the world. I am so happy he is at this stage. I can now look at him and see what he would have been like at birth and boy oh boy is he cute! 

Last night he spent a good portion of the night grunting which was irritating. But today he is making up for it by sleeping a lot! We have been fighting a small rash and finally I found a product that cleared it right up: Weleda Calendula Diaper Cream. It was super pricey $16 for the tube but worth every penny now that it worked! We should be able to go back into cloth soon which will quickly save us the $16 if I don't buy any more online. Today I put him in my new Beco carrier which I have been waiting to try him in. He did well and fell asleep right away then I successfully placed him on the bed without waking him up. Ahhh the milestones. 

6lbs 3oz or 6oz it depends on the scale

So he is either 6lbs 3oz (my doctor) or 6lbs 6 oz (my midwife) that is good news I assume he will be about 7lbs on his due date which is in a week. WOW how fast that pregnancy was. :) The last few weeks were a dream. It will be nice to finally have him to term but sad not to have a tiny tiny one. I guess I am going to get big arm muscles again.

My last post I was whining about him waking up but the next night and day and all the time since then he has been fine. He is waking up but its not as bad as I thought it was going to be. I am hoping his chill personality will shine through if not I am seasoned I know it will all change with time. Right now he is waking up at 10pm, 3am , sometimes 5am and 7! Not to bad. We sleep with him so I barley wake up which is my saviour.

Keiran was cute today he had a few more shots (immunizations) to catch up on so I brought him to the doctor with Liam. He was excited to get the shots, he loves new adventures and to him this was one of them. Wow that was easy, I wish he was always that easy.

I am sleepy today but my BP was back down at the doctors so that is good news. I wish it would go all the way down but a little bit is better than none. I am craving sugar I think its because I am tired and that it tastes sooooo goood. Thats all for now folks!

Someone's waking up

This is looking more like how I remember. Honestly tonight and last night have been a little more interesting. Liam is waking up! Tonight I was trying to pull dinner out of my a@$ while trying to keep the big kids from waking up Liam even though he is waking every 10 min ahhhh frickin' newborns. I got it done without loosing my cool but I didn't think I would. 

He has become super needy and I am not sure what approach I want to take. Cuddle or Ignore hmmmm which theory is the best???? He is super gassy this is a big part of the problem but he stops being gassy when I cuddle him ... is it really gas?

Wow that was a complaint post. It was bound to happen sometime. 

Liam's One Month New

1 Month Already

I really don't know how this happened I have a month old. I have mixed feelings of happiness and sadness. I am happy the first month has gone so well but I also feel it has gone by way to fast! I forgot how much I love newborns. I love love love them. (my own anyways) I love the sounds they make the way they sleep and how they are perfectly harmless. Mind you Liam has only had 1 crying spell that lasted 30 min which I think was a mix of inhaling a barf and a nasty gas bubble. I was a little scared my solution take our clothes off have some skin to skin and breast feed. Ahhh silence: all that hippy upbringing really paid off!

We went to the doctor yesterday Liam is 5lbs 12oz he gained exactly 2lbs in one month! She was very impressed with my super boob milk. The down side of our appointment was my blood pressure was up 140/92 so I have to go back on the silly medication. 

In the last 2 days Liam has taken to raising his head off my chest and trying to turn his head. This is a normal 1 month development which is interesting because he is still - 2weeks. Did I mention he sleeps 23 hrs a day!!!! I am serious he wakes a little to feed which lasts 10 min maybe 20min for a long feed and is awake looking around for may be 10min twice a day. This is why I love newborns right now. 

Oh the little one is awake got to go.

Blood Pressure

My blood pressure is down!!! This means I did have preeclampsia and not my own renal failure. It feels so good to be getting better. I have been seeing all these doctors who all want to be right. The doctors even had a bet going if I had pre-e or renal failure I am glad Dr. Perkiss won! Dr. Rosengaten is a great guy but he was convinced my BP wasn't going to go down and it did. Finally I can put it to rest and move on. Yah to healthiness.

In love!

I am definitely falling in love with my littlest man. I have to hold myself back from squishing him I love him so much. It has officially happened and I am happy about it! 

Yesterday I started to use some of my cloth diapers. They are a little big I must say but it feels a little better than throwing out bags of disposables. I have to wash poopy clothes and blankets anyways I might as well throw in some diapers as well at least it will be a bigger load. After using a few I got inspired and went on to craigslist only to find a super deal on some cloth diapers. I shouldn't have looked, I should know better but I did. $150 later I feel I have all I need and may be a little more.

3 weeks

These days Liam's biggest struggle is pooping. He grunts all day long and poops all day long.

We went to the pediatrician yesterday Liam is 5lbs and 18.5inches. He gained 1 pound in a week and he is 1.5 inches longer. So we don't have to go back to the pediatrician any more. One less doctor appointment makes me really happy. I am getting a little tired of doctors and appointments. This 5lbs mark has made it legal for Liam to ride in his car seat. I couldn't be happier I am very tired of being stuck at home with all this nice weather. I know I have to keep him away from all the action but at least I can get out a bit without another adult to supervise him in the car seat. 

Today I picked up a new/used stroller off craigslist. I am so happy with it! It is the same as my old one a bebecar and it was only $50. I love deals. 

I think my blood pressure is going down. Which is the best news ever that means it was preeclampsia and not my own hypertension (which would mean I need to take drugs forever) I am still not sure because I am using Scott's parents machine and it might not be accurate. I haven't seen numbers in the 120's and 70's for awhile. I will go to the doctor soon and have them check to make sure. 

Now I must go feed the littlest hastings some super creamo.
